They won't. I had to file an online police report and they don't do anything for investigating since this happens often and there was no one injured. They have a 6 month back log on house break ins, so unfortunately, vehicle break ins go completely unnoticed. Ugh.
That's really ****ty! At least you can get it replaced fast. We had a back glass somehow get smashed while it was being driven down the freeway. It took weeks to get a new one from the dealer.
If it makes you feel any better, we had an entire car stolen last week.
Nope, rates won't raise with this theft, already checked on that.
I only have Today off for the next 16 days, and since it can get repaired today, the convenience out weighs the money savings, which are miniscule anyway.
The issue arises if you ever need to switch insurers. They always ask if you've had a claim within the last 5 years, and even if it's not your fault, they work statistically. You are more likely to report claims, and you live in an area where stupid crap like this happens. If this is the case, then your insurer now has a captive customer, for whom they will raise rates for ever so slightly.
I hate insurance companies, they always try to screw users out of their money. The only time I would ever use it would be catastrophic loss.
