    US Price revealed: $12,995 (2014 Mirage 5-speed)

    According to a memo from a dealer source we trust, the $12,995 sticker is for the basest-of-the-base 1,193 cc three-cylinder Mirage, with a five-speed manual and just 74 horsepower. If you want a CVT, that's going to be another thousand dollars, and if you want the seriously, luxuriously opulent 'ES' trim, it's going to cost $14,195 for the stick and $15,195 for the CVT.

    (Admin edit: official Mitsu pricing announcement posted further down this thread.

    Also added: destination/shipping charge is
    $795)

    Nice find - thanks.

    Pretty much confirms what we've been hearing/suspecting.

    Comments on Jalopnik are always interesting...

    Early concensus seems to be forming around the idea that $13k isn't cheap enough for Mitsu's foray into cheap & cheerful.

    Not surprising considering the average jalopnik reader. No offense.
    Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

    Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

    I think we already know how the typical auto blog commenter (and writer) is going to react to the Mirage...

    ///

    But back to the subject of pricing: where does 12,995 slot the Mirage in the U.S. entry level market? Nissan Versa sedan is still the cheapest, yes? Then Mirage, then Chevy Spark?

    EDIT: never mind - found the Versa info. It's $11,990 in the US.

    Versa = $11,990
    Spark = $12,170
    ForTwo = $12,490

    Next up would be the Mirage if it does come in at $13k.

    Would be nice if Mitsu could come in at $12,500 or lower...

    We don't know for sure if the price includes destination (shipping) charges or not...

    Spark is 12,995 in the U.S. including delivery/shipping, according to this article, which suggests the Mirage's 12,995 price also includes shipping:

    UPDATE: nope, chevrolet.com lists the Spark 5MT MSRP as 12,995, excluding delivery/shipping, etc.

    Mitsubishi’s new subcompact targets the Chevrolet Spark, which is also priced from $12,995, including delivery and handling.

    I have a feeling dealers will be willing to discount the mirage if the 12,995 doesn't include delivery. I'de be looking for the $1,000 discount they offered in other countries.

    Yeah, but that story references the Jalopnik article. So they really don't have anymore info than Jalopnik.
