.... You think 2 hours driving with 600 kg, 1300 lbs (+ me) is viable?

I have a water filtration system. Someone is selling 1200 kg of water softening salt for like half the store price. I figured I would buy him out. I know the mirage would be able to fit that much physically, but I did not think about the weight.

I looked it up, the car apparently has a payload of 925 lbs. It's about 30 minutes each way, so I was figuring two trips, based on the sellers availability for 2 hours drive time.

I could probably start early and add a third trip, but do you figure 2 would be fine? I've honestly never thought about weight in this car and I must have hit 925 before when moving, and that was a 6 hour drive. If the guy didn't ask what kind of truck I had, I probably wouldn't have even thought of it this time round haha.

2 trips should be fine. Roughly 650 lbs. each round is OK. Just don't plan on taking 2 friends, a St. Bernard, several bowling balls and exercise weights.

The way I read it was that you want to do two trips at 1300lbs each(1200kg=2645lbs). If that's correct I'd plan for at least 3 trips @881lbs each. Then wing it.

Clearly the responsible way to do it, I'm just lazy and was hoping 2 trips would be fine haha.

I am curious how many people have overloaded their car here. I almost certainly have without thinking about it.

If you had a hitch and lived close, I'd let you use my utility trailer. But heck, even then it might be wise to do 2 trips. But with the utility trailer, you can keep the mess out of the car. I used to do salt, back when I lived up in Michigan. Some of those bags don't Ed Zachery keep the salt inside.
