No pictures, didn't think to take any. Lots of help/supervision from a friend. Ok.... I helped and offered him beer. Wouldn't want to try it on my own.
Is your car didn't come with factory keyless entry/central lock unit?
I used this alarm sistem on my mirage, no need extra key chain, it works with original transmitter.
It is a DS model that came with some options but not keyless entry. The key is a standard chip key but no remote function on the key.

Called Mitsubishi roadside. 2015 Mirage the starter sounds stuck. It's spinning the motor but not turning over and has a raw fuel smell.

If your starter is spinning the motor and you can smell fuel probably you have an issue with spark...

Really?? Never heard of this one before. Options in '15 were the DE, Rockford Fosgate (RF), and ES. Keyless entry was standard in '14-'15 across the range, and still is in '17 as well. The previous owner may have lost the original remote key and replaced it with a chipped non-remote key? This is a very distinct possibility if the car were repossessed or something.
I'd very much like to see the actual key you have for your car. My ex-girlfriend's '14 DE was about as base as you could get and it had RKE.
If it doesn't look like this, then you likely have the wrong one.
