Hard to believe milage is the same at 65 or 75. My experience is that it's good, it doesn't take much to bring it down. +2 for great turning radius and good ground clearance. And something she didn't mention (because she live in southern CA) - it's fun to drive in snow and plows through it really well.

Our own testing shows that you won't get the same mileage at 65 or 75.

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

@MetroMPG - When I watched the review, I was reminded of 'Blair Witch Project'. But I do appreciate that they took the time to do it.

I agree with her on the "Clunky" manual tranny. I been driving manual car most my life and even my wife's 20 year old Geo Metro and my 98 Metro seems to shift smoother than the Mirage.

The Mirage shifts smooth at normal RPM shifting, but when you tromp on it to get on the freeway or need to accelerate quickly, the shifts are not so smooth. My educated guess would assume the transmission will feel smoother after it breaks in or after it's first fluid change. It's not an issue, just a feeling by comparison.

    Mine has smoothed out with
    1. A few miles for break-in, and
    2. Shifting up at around 2500 - 3000 rpm as opposed to 1500 - 2000 rpm. I don't usually shift past 2000 rpm, and rarely beyond 3000 rpm.

Some forum members reported different behavior out of their manual transmission with new lubricant.

Mine hates 2k. Get it up to 2.5-3k, shifts like butter. About the only thing I've never liked about small cars... No torque. My dads Ford ranger 4.0L 5mt? It'll shift smooth at 1600 rpm. Every time.

That's tuning - a result of mechanical valve timing. If electronic solenoid valves are ever perfected, this could be eliminated with a corresponding significant improvement in efficiency.

Maybe some day. In the meantime, we have MIVEC.
