I got fuel consumption around 40 mpg driving home from the dealer with low air pressure in my tires. Once I aired up and made the TPMS light go out, I watched my fuel consumption improve.

Break in helps, but I would expect much better fuel economy than what you are reporting - especially in North Carolina.

Let's consider the operating conditions. Are you driving short trips - just enough to get the engine warmed up? Any elevation changes on your route? What speeds are you averaging? Are your tires aired up?

The car is still breaking in bro. It will loosen up! I have a 2017 ES 5-speed and was averaging low 40's and then hitting low 50 MPG's after it broke in until I swapped to 15" wheels (like the GT would have) and now my MPG's are mid 40's. Highway speeds at 70 MPH or more will affect MPG's. Cold weather will also give it a hit. If I run the A/C and run interstate speeds my mileage is high 30's but if drive on back roads at 55 MPH or less and drive it easy, I can get upwards of 50 MPG with a 5-speed.

I assume your mileage will increase in time and hope you get your headlight issue resolved.

Only to and from work. 90% highway at about 72 mph. No ac yet. Last 4 full tanks averaged 35 mpg.

Yes , thanks for asking. The dealer had 2 more GT with HID lights and said they both have the driverside light lower. He wasn't sure but thinks they are set that way as not to blind oncoming traffic. As far as gas mileage, I have averaged 35 in the last 4 full tanks.
My commute is 90% highway at about 72 mph. Tachometer always hovering mid to high 2s.
