Road trip in a manual? (Concerned about high RPM)

Has anyone done a long road trip in their 5 speed mirage? Any issues with the high revving for long periods of time? I want to look at a 5 speed mirage but i don't want to be worried every time i take the thing out of town. I'm not used to revving 3500rpm+ out on the highway. My versa is at 2k rpms at 70 currently.

I've driven over 2k miles straight with mine. Will be 2 years old next month and have 54k on the clock. Pulled a 1000# trailer from MO to WA, had to do a lot of Wyoming in 3rd gear at around 5k rpm. Still holding strong.

    Wow!

I'm paranoid and almost never drive my car over 60 mph (3,000 RPMs). But I've read enough on here not to worry about it. Just think of it like a motorcycle. You'd ride one at 4,000 RPMs all day long and never think twice about it.

I took my 5-speed Mirage from Ohio to North Carolina and back. I too was concerned about the high RPM, both for the potential harm the high RPMs might do, as well as the noise. I have no long-term proof that the high RPMs don't damage the engine, but the engine noise didn't bother me at all.

From what I've read, the 3A9X engine the Mirage uses has been in use since the 2003 Mitsubishi Colt. That's a good 15 years old, and I'm guessing that any major longevity issues would have certainly reared their head by now.

Take my manual on 500-mile jaunts just about every other week for work. No issues whatsoever at 53k on the clock. Car is a champ.

    Jibles,

I've driven from St. Paul to Grand Marais and back. Averaging about 70-75mph on 35E north. Had no issues. I think I got about 600 or so miles from that trip. Just wished I had cruise control but I was totally fine without it.

I drove from LA to Memphis and Florida and back on the 10 thru New Orleans in my 2014 Mirage DE. My 2017 versa was 3500 at 70 and 3900 at 80.
