    Another CVT fluid question

    Hello!
So today I changed CVT fluid and filters.
When i was buying J4 fluid I did not attach importance that fluid is NS3.

I didn't have enough this fluid because I changed two filters and merged everything under clean from CVT.
After I bought simple 1L CVT fluid.

It had not indicated NS3 or NS2.
As i know NS3 is blue and NS2 is green and they are very different.

On running engine and heated oil there comes 5L fluid up to "H" mark.
But after I noticed bubbles on the dipstick.

So I decided to remove the surplus(1.25L) and leave a level as manual told - 3.75L.

Here is part of the surplus

It seems that this color is the result of mixing NS3 and NS2

Also what i notice, now when the engine is start and CVT fluid is hot, level on the dipstick just 1 millimeter (a little drop at the bottom).

    OMG what i done...

@ original poster"How hot is hot? It could take hours of driving to get it up to the proper temp to check it as per the book. And you'd need a scan tool or some way to know the fluid temp.

I just checked a 15' that's cold, without running it shows at the hot mark. With it running it reads way low, at the first bend in the dipstick.
I also looked at a 17' (same cvt) that's been driving around for 7hrs. With it running it reads at the H mark, maybe a little above it. I shoulda hooked up the scanner but I was in a rush.

When you pull the plug, you'll get about 2.5 liters out. If you drop the pan you'll get a bit more out, I dunno how much exactly. You won't get all 7.0L out of it. Ever, it's not gonna happen. If you buy a new transmission and it's never had fluid in it it'll hold 7.0L. There is no drain plug for the torque converter on these transmissions( so there's always gonna be fluid in there.

Best be when draining the fluid is to try to measure how much came out and put the same amount back in. As long as it was properly filled from new you shouldn't have a problem.

So guys I added back 2L and now total I have 5L fluid in my CVT.

With CVTz50 android app and Vgate OBDII scaner I got the perfect temperature for HOT measurements 75°C.

Fluid level on start engine is perfect located in H mark.

But i still have bubles Name: IMG_20190314_111248_046.jpg

I'll try to check a few more cars later today once they're all warmed up and let you know what I see.

    Waiting, thank you!

    I am still interested ...
Does it possible to reduce the force that slowing down car at low speeds?
I feel one or two unpleasant kicks when I throw gas pedal.

As i know CVTz50 android app can do this, buy regulating this force from -3 till +3.

    I will check.

Whoops, forgot all about this. I'll try to remember when I get time.
Are you asking if you can make the cvt not slow down as aggressively? I really don't know. I'm sure you could? You seem to know way more than I about these things!
So you're saying with that cvtz50 app you can change/adjust the setting/coding for the transmission?

Yes. The CVT is involved in braking process till ~20km/h and after you feeling little kick.

This function can't be completely disabled, but can be changed.

That sounds like deceleration fuel cut-off to me. At some point during deceleration the ECU restarts either fuel or spark (or both?) to keep the engine from stalling.
