    The washer is still in place on the drain plug pictured below. I guess it makes sense that it's a crush washer. It was crushed so flat on mine that I wasn't sure it was even there.

    Hmmm...can you separate the washer from your plug? It looks as though the edge of your crush washer actually has black paint on it (like the rest of the plug)?

    Yes they come off. It's not easy especially if it's been crushed a lot.

    Yeah...I found that out.

    I had to use a small flat-head screwdriver to get the washer to separate from the head of the plug. Then I just unscrewed it past the threads.

    I ordered a case of these, and they didn't come with the washers. That's why I had to order them separately. I have seen Mitsubishi filters that both do and do not come with a new oil plug washer. Here is what I bought.
