Advantages of Hatch Vs. G4 or vice versa?

I am admittedly a hatch back guy. Started with a 79 Accord, then Sprint Turbo, and a 92 VW GTI 16v.

But the G4 has me intrigued. Roomy back seat. Available seat warmers on the SE (granted, you can get them installed for about $300 on the aftermarket all the same). I saw a auto dimming rear view mirror on the G4 Se, too.. odd they package the two cars different. The screen is bigger on G4?

Maybe outward vision is better on the G4?

The disadvantages of a G4 for me are lack of folding rear seat, and I just like the funky rear look of the hatch. But that is Subjective.

I suddenly caught interest in the G4 due to finding out a 2nd child is on the way. That rear seat might be more accommodating for 2 car seats. But, I could make due likely with car seats that fit okay in the hatch.

    Thoughts? Experiences?

If i had children i would get the G4 for the extended crumple zone. (rear ended)

The hatch has a shorter wheelbase (so I've read) so it should have a tighter turning circle and be less likely to curb check the inside curb

The hatchback looks like a rat that got soccer kicked in the butt.

I'm with metro, I think I'd rather get rear ended in a sedan if I had the choice. I'd personally get which everyone has more room in the back seat. Rear facing car seats take up a ton of room. Unless you're short then I guess it doesn't really matter.

    Congratulations!!

We can go over worst-case scenarios some other time.

Just because it's a sedan doesn't mean it's automatically safer... there's sedans out there with hilariously bad crash tests:

Watch the rear bumper... it even takes damage!

True, some old vans and trucks had the worst crumple zones ever. I am surprised how well the 2015 mirage did on frontal crash test.

I think the car in that video was one large crumple zone from bumper to bumper...lol.

Oh, you want a "vuck" or "tran" crash test video.

The G4 has a longer wheelbase 100.4 vs 96.5 for hatch and is also a bit longer. I have been told, and others here may know better, that it rides a bit better than the hatch due to the extra wight and longer length. As an aside, surprised at the weight difference between a Manual and a CVT model. I guess the efficiency outweighs (no pun intended) the extra weight.

I love my G4, roomy inside and has good visibility. Trunk is big too and living in the city I like the idea of an enclosed trunk so I can hide things from prying eyes and hands!

It is personal choice for sure, but I would go with a G4 again.
