    VSS speed?

I'm looking at a Rostra cruise control kit and I need the VSS speed to program the unit. Does anyone know it or how to determine what the value is?

Have you checked out this thread? Several forum members have installed the Rostra unit.

I did but it is all about enabling the factory cruise. It needs a new steering wheel a mut3 programmer which cost about $600 etc. I did not see vss mentioned.

The VSS (vehicle speed sensor) determines vehicle speed, not depends on it. A little further explination of what your asking may be necessary.

My guess they're asking you to count the signals per rotation

Woops...I got my threads confused. Sorry about that.

I thought the Rostra unit was plug-n-play? You don't need to worry about finding the VSS signal.
Here's what it says at Rostra's website (LINK)...

Automatically acquires VSS (speed signal) when connected
Here's another plug-n-play cruise control system on eBay: LINK

You are correct sir! Something like 2000 or 4000 or even higher according to the intructions.

It appears to be, but my understanding is you still have to "program" or set jumpers on the box part so it correctly reads/calculates the vehicle info.

Interesting. I wonder why? Whatever the speed is set for it should keep it. I wonder why Rostra needs to know how many signals per revolution.

I just realized, I have the wrong instruction set, it is for a universal Rostra cruise control kit. The Mirage kit is apparently preset by Rostra. I believe they need the VSS so it maintains the correct speed. If it is set for a different VSS count, it will not maintain the desired speed?

To determine what 1mph is for the up/down bumper, it must need to know tire rollout tio

The video found at TOP FUELS link surely doesn't look fun too install for surely not plug and play! They were under dash cutting wires... maybe the video isn't a good representation, being it was going into a subaru.

2015 FLOYD how did it go, did you get everything hooked up? Pictures or comments?

Just ordered the kit! I'll be working on it this week if it gets here in time, I have a trip for the weekend. Also ordered a new head unit and rear view cam to go with it. Keyless entry is going in tomorrow! Think I'll take a breather after that! LOL
