Don't buy these front brake pads

I'm at 106,000 miles currently (hard miles driving uber)

I am experienced with working on cars (no master tech but I know what I'm doing)

I properly installed cheap $13-14 pads at close to 50k miles after oem were worn down. I don't remember what brand I used.

At around 90k I replaced the cheap pads with the highest quality pads on rockauto.

    Raybestos EHT1731H

They were listed as premium and the most expensive $20 "comparable to oe"

They are garbage! I used brake quiet as I always do, synthetic high temp brake grease (purple permatex) with silglyde on the caliper slide pins as I always do.

During hard stops sielent, during slow stops quiet, during average pressure slow smooth stops brake noise. Normally only when heated up and at specific pedal pressures. It's very annoying.

Just wanted to share, stick with the cheap ones LOL

Maybe I got a bad set? I've disassembled the front brakes twice re lubricating and double checking everything. I've tried every trick I know of and the rotors are good. Will be switching pads when I change lower control arms and bushings in the near future.

The harder the pad material is, the more the squeak. For example, trains usually have very loud brakes because the "pad" is cast iron!

Asbestos was rightly banned in pads and linings a few years ago. Since then, manufactures generally switched to semi-metallic recipes. The resultant pads were usually a bit harder, and had a higher tendancy to squek.

Metallic pads and linings have more recently hit the market. These are harder, and as a consequence, the squeak more easily and wear the rotors out quicker.
My advice: Stay with the semi-metallic OEM Akebono pads.

They do make more noise, but have substantially more 'bite'. We had a rare sunny day here today, and I ran around all day with the windows down. What noise there was didn't bother me.

This is the video I took.

It's random squealing. Not constant, I looked through my receipts and it turns out I replaced my originals with these pads, they worked great for 40k+ miles and now my second set does this. I'll grab another pair, different brand soon and see if that resolves this issue.

Sounds normal and not that bad actually for performance pads.

The first set of these pads never made this noise. The second set did. Driving for uber I have had passengers report I have faulty squeaky brakes, I explained the situation to uber but they don't care. If it wasn't for uber this issue would just be a minor annoyance

That's not a 'squeal'...those brake pads are vibrating. Like striking a tuning fork. Are you sure you reinstalled all the clips and shims? Mine don't do that AT ALL.

Perhaps your rotors are too thin...have you replaced them yet? Did you mic them?

I doubt it's the pads, but something ain't right under there.
