P0400, SMOG Test : Incomplete Readiness

    1998 Mirage DE 1.5

Had a p0400 smog test fail code as well as 5 readiness incompletes. I cleaned the EGR and IACV. EGR was gunked up badly. Cleared the code thereafter, did a drive cycle per Mitsu bulletin, now at 80 miles. Took it back to shop found it still has the same 5 monitors not ready. This readiness incomplete happened last year. Kept driving then took it to a different shop and it passed. Before that it always passed with first try. Checking via torque it has no error code nor none that is pending. I checked o2 seonsors voltages also but I don't know what to make of the results. In all not sure where to go from here?

Here is a pic of the fails https://s19.postimg.org/al067hh1t/mirage.jpg

Hello Jay11 and welcome to our forum.

Not sure if you read the introduction post: Welcome to MirageForum!

This forum is focused on the current or 6th generation of the Mitsubishi Mirage. We don't have a lot of members here with 1998 vintage Mirages.

That being said, it sounds like you need to complete some more drive cycles? Hopefully it is something that simple.

Remember that when you "clear codes" you are blowing away ALL of the OBDII monitors at the same time. So you need plenty of driving in different scenarios in order to get those monitors back to the "ready" state. Some of the requirements of those drive cycles can be incredibly odd. I've read what some cars require to set those monitors and I think it would take me a month or more or driving in most cases. Just keep driving it.
