    Oil Cooler

    Hi there,

    Is there any benefits in using an oil cooler for our mirage? saw this one installed with the mirage. wondering if theres any benefit.

    Yes, it's the cooler for the CVT. It circulates coolant though, not CVT fluid.

    No advantage to an oil cooler unless you do heavy track use.

    Is that an OEM CVT cooler? I thought the cooler was integrated into (on to?) the actual CVT unit??

    is that only for CVT? i thought it was supposed to be for oil? im talking about the blue colored cooler.

    It's true. Coolant is circulated through a heat exchanger located inside the CVT housing. Once the engine is up to temperature, so is the CVT. Since most fluids are designed to work at a specific operating temperature, I'm not sure I understand the benefit of adding more cooling capacity - unless, as ahausheer says its for heavy loads. The little dashboard light will tell if things are getting too hot.

    That blue cooler looks like an aftermarket oil intercooler for a turbo.
