    How to: Factory DRL Install

Got my hands on a DRL kit from ebay. The quality of the plastic mouldings are not as good as the original though. Perhaps different manufacturers will offer diffetent quality. Searched the forum and didnt find any threads on factory DRL install.

Kit comes with control module with 3 wires. Black goes to ground, red goes to switched positive or accessory and white goes to positive headlight wire to dim the DRL when headlights are on at night.

The fuse box in the engine compartment are all hot battery bus. Only way to get switched positive is by tapping the power window relay.
For the headlight positive the 10a fuse circled is perfect. Using a fuse tap i connected the white wire to the healight fuse that gets power when the headlights are on.

    Relay and fuse to use:

Connect the red power wire to this particular terninal on the power window relay which gets power when accessory is on.

Route the wires through the acess hole at the side for a tidy factory install. Tidy up the wirings with zip ties.

Attach ground wire by loosening the bolt and sandwiching it under.

The hard part completed.. test the operation of the lights, remove old covers and install the new DRL fog covers and tidy up the wirings as needed.

Hope this helps those who are thinking of installing DRLs but not sure of how to wire them up.

Now with the car on accessory:

With the headlights on the DRL is dimmed to 50% brightness.

Some photos with the fog cover off and how they are attached to the car:

Original fog light cover removed. The clips holds it on.
