Don't know if it also has an automatic switch. There is a sensor in the chair, as the seatbelt warning works.
Space Wolf thanks for posting that photo. If your Space Star can accommodate such a switch, I wonder if it can be fitted to other versions of this car.

Do you know if it is available on all model years, or just yours?

Are you able to tell where it is wired to? I'm going to guess that it goes to the SRS-ECU. If so, there may be a reference to this in a wiring diagram somewhere.

Also, it would be helpful if you made a forum Garage entry and tell us how your Space Star is configured.

    Garage empty: add car

Please make an entry today. And thanks for posting!

With all the harnesses just chilling with nothing attached to them, it could be sitting there waiting to be hooked up to a switch ;-)

    That's what I was thinking.

Eggman, I wonder if the cut off switch is just the occupancy sensor in the seat itself. If it only has 2 wires going to it then it should be able to just put your own toggle switch. Or why not just pull the airbag fuse. Then it's at least fair, nobody gets an airbag when you crash. Or unplug the 3 rh airbags, and then check the resistance of them. Install reisistors of that value in the pigtail and leave bags unplugged. If you ever want your passenger to have a higher chance of survival, then remove the resistors and plug the airbags back in. That's kind of a pain in the ass though.

It's my understanding the occupancy sensor has its own ECU.

Yep. With 9 wires attached to it, it's more intricate than a toggle.

I was talking about the actual sensor not the module for the sensor. I'm pretty sure someone had to get their seat sensor replaced. It was a big pad or something I thought. I think I might have a seat ubolted in a car, I'll go take a look.
