    Should I buy used tires 185-60-14?

    Hi Gang,

    I saw an ad on craigslist for 185-60-14 tires from Aspen Touring. Have 85% tredlife left.

    $100 for the set of 4.

    Do you think its a good idea for me to buy these ahead of time? My car is less than 2 years old with the stock Ensaves.

    Do you think the tires will be okay if I store each one of them in a contractor trash bag and leave them in the backyard?

    I wonder if the tires will break-down if left in storage for 2 or 3 years?

    The way I see it is that if I have a disastrous flat tire on the Enasaves i would have no choice but to order a replacement online and it costs cheapest I saw was $115 shipped plus the costs of mounting and balancing at the local tire shop

    I think it's a good idea to have a spare Enasave or 2 in the corner of your garage...because it may be an expensive adventure if you ever need a 165-65-14 replacement in a hurry.

    However, those Aspens are an inexpensive tire that may not have any decent qualities other than being round and they fit on your wheels. Big O Tires sells Aspen tires...and they aren't expensive if you needed to buy 4 new ones. Even for $100, I personally wouldn't buy those used ones to save for a rainy day. Just keep an eye out for a used Enasave at a good price. If I still had stock wheels/tires, that's what I would do.

    @Top_Fuel

    Here is the advertisement on craigslist

    https://miami.craigslist.org/brw/wto/d//6201899614.html

    Thank you for your advice. I think you are correct. I am guilty sometimes of "over-preparing". And my car is still under 7000 miles

    I will do as you say and wait until I see a used 165/65R14 (preferably Dunlop Enasave)

    Those tires dont seem to be the best you can get. If you live in Miami I guess you dont really have to worry much about traction in the rain. My Hankook Touring tires were about $53 per tire new.

    I'd just buy spare Ensaves if its really worrying you.

    I just noticed that the stock Dunlop Enasaves are available on Amazon for $112 with free Prime 2 day shipping.

    So knowing that makes it less "mission critical" to have a spare set on standby (unless you are like an Uber driver or something and cant absorb the 2 days of down-time)

    @marklovsky,

    Hankook Touring tires? Sounds nice and the price you paid was a bargain

    How is your average mpg now compared to when you had the stock tires?

    You can't really use my MPG as a base because of everything I have on my car. Basket Rack, Tow hooks, LED/Bull Bar, etc. I sold my Ensaves to another member at about 950 miles. I was getting about 45-50 MPG with Ensaves completely at stock. But it really was skidding around in Washington rainy weather.

    Right now, I get around 33-39 MPG. I do have 15"s on that are light weight Konigs. I think if I took off all the Racks and accessories I'd be back in the 40's.

    I saw the case of oil you just scored on Craigslist. Sooner or later you will find the same deal on Enasaves. You should have been around when I sold my original Enasaves here.
