Any forum members ever traded 2 Mirages here? (Looking to trade 5MT for CVT)

I see posts sometimes about people that bought a CVT and wished they had bought a 5 speed manual instead and vice-versa.

I was wondering if 2 members have ever traded cars? Of course each person would still have to pay sales tax when they registered the car in their own name.

I am the original owner of a 2015 Mirage DE in 5 speed manual that was purchased new in 2016 and has about 7000 miles.

I would be interested to talk to a member with a CVT model that is interested to trade for the stick-shift. Or at least to do a 1 week trade where we drive the other person's car for a week.

There have been so many times that people where not happy with their Mirage and ended up trading it back to the dealer (and got absolutely screwed financially).

I think this is a great idea. I wouldn't want to part ways with my manual transmission, but I think it would be fun to drive a CVT for a while.

Good idea. I edited the thread title to make it a bit more clear.

I'm curious: what prompted you to get the 5-speed to begin with, and why are you looking to trade to CVT now?

Based on his post here, it sounds like the manual trans may not be the best choice for the heavy traffic of Miami.

I was exploring the possibility but I am happy with the 5 speed so far. I was just "jarred" when i read a post talking about that it would cost $1200 to replace the clutch on the 5 speed.

If $1200 sounds bad...don't ever price a CVT transmission through the dealer...

    Why would it cost 1,200?

That's the rough number in this thread: Mirage-clutch-replacement-cost-(estimate)

Man that is rough!! I remember doing the clutch on my 1992 eclipse 1.8, I even cheated and only dropped the struts to get the axles out of the trans (didn't have to unbolt the lower ball joints). I bought a $20 clutch disc (not the complete set) and it didn't come with an alighnment tool (I loosely tightened the pressure plate and stabbed the transmission to align it the hard and free way). Had the entire job done in about 3 hours with a 119pc craftsman tool set, $50 jack and jack stand kit, 32mm socket. I can only imagine the mirage would be even easier with a lighter transmission.
