Thread: How long before Mitsubishi "SUV-ifies" the Mirage?

How long before Mitsubishi "SUV-ifies" the Mirage?

How long before Mitsubishi slaps on plastic body cladding and fake roof rails to the Mirage?

GM has done it with the Spark:

Toyota has just done it to the Prius C:

The difference between the two: for Prius C, that's the new default look. For the Spark, it's an uplevel trim package (that also adds something like a 1 inch lift kit )

The way the North American auto market is going (anything Trucky or SUVy is selling better than traditional cars), it seems inevitable!

The Fiesta is being replaced in North America by the EcoSport, and it seems the Chevy Sonic is on the chopping block. But then again the Mirage is very popular in Southeast Asia. So who knows. I wouldn't mind a slightly more "rugged" appearance.

I can handle the cladding, but not the lifting/changing, so I sure hope not. I like small cars. If I wanted an SUV or crossover there are PLENTY to choose from. Leave my small car alone.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

Those rails are Just for Looks! People don't even use them around here. But some one could order some and put them on your Mirage I know they are on the New Outlander I thought about putting them on my 2015 Outlander

The Spark actually looks sharp like that. I wouldn't be against them "butching" up the look of the Mirage, especially if it garners more interest in the car and doesn't affect fuel economy.

The roof racks for the previous and current Spark are not just for looks, they are rated for 110 lbs capacity. I wish you could get the Mirage with an option of roof rails.

110 isnt that great. Aftermarket is 175lbs.

My point being they're not just for looks like stated. My 2 kayaks are less than 110 lbs. and almost seldom will anyone haul more than 110 lbs up there anyway, aftermarket or not.

Mitsubishi already offers a roof rack kit for the Mirage, and I'm sure they'll install it at the dealer.

    ROOF RACK KIT
    $308

These aero style roof rack kit lets you attach various carriers and attachments to your roof; freeing up valuable space for your passengers and gear.

Roof racks tend to wreck aerodynamics and in turn reduce fuel efficiency.

You'd have to compare the costs of the two to see which is more logical.
