    New owner to the Mirage

Hey there! I just picked up a silver 2017 Mirage! Bought it specifically for the gas mileage. My Camaro SS was killing me in gas and decided that it would just be cheaper to buy a car outright and use it for my commute. Which is 60 miles round trip!

I am loving the manual! I notice she kind of stays at high rpms at around 70-80 but i didn't buy it to race and it still says "eco" when it's at those rpms on the highway.

I look forward to learning more about the Mirage!

Hello jscv0341 and welcome to the forum.

So, what influenced you to get a Mirage out of all the choices out there?

    Thanks ya'll!

Well the mirage had the highest mpg from what i compared with. I owned a base manual yaris before and i paid more than what i did for the mirage brand new. The mirage came with power windows and locks, which the base yaris didn't (at the time i don't know about now.)

That and my father had a lancer which served him well.

    Hey, welcome to the forum!

Yeah high gas costs are annoying. My brother calls me over to take off his Roof top tent time to time cause his gas mileage is probably around 15 haha.

Welcome! That Mirage will pay for itself every month, or near to it. They are great little cars. Reliable as the sunrise (and about as exciting).

    Thanks everyone!

Fun little tidbit, I filled up for the first time today, i had a little less than a quarter so i was expecting something like my camaro (at least 20-30, camaro full tank is 40) and it was $11 on regular 87.

WOW. Thinking back, since i've gotten the car i was able to drive to Lewisville, Irving, Plano twice, Mesquite and to Denton. (Basically all over DFW) All on one tank of gas.

You're right cobra, this will pay for itself soon enough

To me it brings back my wanderlust of just hopping in the car and going for a drive to explore to other cities / areas. Drive all day and spend less than $20. Inexpensive adventure fun!

Just as an FYI, each bar on the gauge corresponds to about a gallon of gas. It is a 9.2 gallon tank, so once the eight bars are gone and the gauge is flashing you have about 1.2-1.5 gallons left.

Not a whole lot of cars out there that you can drive for another 80 miles after the gauge tells you the tank is "empty".
