Thread: P0876 (Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor)

    P0876 (Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor)

I had a car come in with a P0876 Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor / Switch D Circuit Range Performance code stored. The driver said the shift indicator flashed when the light came on as well. I see there was a member who had this happen to them and the dealers fix was to replace the transmission and computer. I changed the fluid(21/2 liters of it) cleared the light and I'm hoping it doesn't come back. I'll post any updates if it happens again. The car has 197k kms so no warranty for this one.

Well...when the retail on a CVT is $4,000+, I'd say a fluid change and crossed fingers are the way to go. I've fixed more than one transmission that way. Keep us posted.

Wow, that's more than the car is worth. I have 2 spare low mileage cvt's on the shelf if I need to swap it. Hopefully this one will last a bit longer.

I've always said if I won the lottery, I'd quit my job, buy low mileage late-model wrecked cars, and disassemble them for parts to sell on eBay/Craigslist/etc. I'd make money, but wouldn't have to worry about making enough to live, and fulfill my need to "work on cars" without having to make sure they still work when I'm done.

I should update this...This car had the cvt fluid changed at 140k kms(I don't know if it was replaced previous to then, my records only go back to 55k kms.) then both filters and fluid changed at 220k km. Noted fluid was dark. Then at 223k kms the cvt piled up. Installed a used one from a wrecked 2015. 4 days later removed cvt cause it had a hairline crack and was puking fluid. Replaced it with one from a 2017 with 23,000kms.
So now this car has 557k kms on the engine, and the cvt has 356k kms.
