    Pizza cutters for the snow?

Anyone running 145/65-15's for the snow?
I've got a set of Yokahama IG20's coming, and a set of new OEM Mini Cooper steelies.
    $325 total

This should guarantee zero snowfall for the Chicago area this winter.

Not I. But I'm interested in seeing what they look like and of course how they work.

Yes, hopefully this venture does not become another one of my failed experiments.
The tires are spec'ed for 4 to 5 inch rim width, I'm at 5.5 inch. This concerns me some, but having seen so many tuner cars running crazy oversize rim widths, I suspect I will be fine.

There are some 155/60R15 TS800 Conti's that may be a great choice, but they are expensive, and just from the looks, I wonder if they are as good on snow and ice. AT 155, their contact patch is actually slightly narrower than the 145 Yokahamas.

They bead right up on 5.5's, and look like real pizza cutters. I should have put a 165/65 next to it. Took minimal weight to balance, and run very true, appears to be a high quality tire (Japan mfg.)
Working on some Coroplast wheel covers before the snow flies.

The tires came from Tire Rack, wheels are from Mini. And, I can only wish that was my garage floor.

Looks good. I bet they work amazingly well in the snow. Narrow winter tires are the way to go.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

I will get a better feel for it when we get some serious snow here, but so far it's exceeded all expectations !

Now it's "let's go" instead of " I hope I don't have to go anywhere"

I don't know how I did without these the last 3 winters. Also, MPG is back to normal after having run 175/65R14's last 6k. The only drawback is that I can't go hard into the corners on dry pavement, these tires are no good for that, but they are so good on slippery roads that I don't care.
