    Question Anyone tried these tires?

    Hello everyone,

New owner here, I've only had my 2015 ES for about a week. Car has 24k miles and still has the factory Dunlop tires on it. Rears still look pretty good, maybe 50% tread left, but the fronts are just about gone. Don't think the previous owner kept up with rotations like they should. With that said, I'm probably going to just go ahead and replace all four in the very near future.

Been looking online and there seems to be very few options for tires. The factory Dunlops, expensive Bridgestones, and then these...

Federal SS657 all seasons. Anyone tried these? Price seems very good and they have a couple good reviews on Simple Tire.

    Advice?

I'm running these on the front of Onyx. Quiet tire, good traction. I think there is a small mpg hit due to them. Ordered them through Walmart.

They definitely seem tempting. How to they perform in the rain? And how big of an MPG hit?

They are excellent in the rain and it seems to be less than a 1 mpg hit. I think if I was running with 4 of these it would be about 1-2 mpg.

I've been putting cheapo 185 60 14's Gt radial summer's and sailun iceblazer's for winter once the factory dunlops are toast. They are a more common size, but they are a little wider and a little heavier so you may get slightly lower mpg. Khumo makes the stock size as well as a few other off brands. I get tires from this place: https://www.quattrotires.com/dimensi...vit=S&reg=TRUE But it's in Canada so it doesn't help you there.

Whatever you do, do NOT try to save yourself a few dollars by skipping an alignment. Some Mirages have problematic rear axles (details here). Many Mirages came from the factory with incorrect front end alignments as well.

One other consideration... If you decide to change tire sizes, go get your alignment checked BEFORE you get rid of your original Enasaves. If it turns out that your rear axle is out of whack, your warranty replacement process will be a whole lot easier if you still have the OEM tires on the car.

At 44psi, I am finding my inexpensive new 175/65 14 Milestars to be totally acceptable, even good maybe.
The Marshmallow did take a hit on accel, and coasting, but it's not a deal breaker.
The ride quality and handling are just fine.
Taking into account the larger diameter, I'm burning aprox 10% more fuel , but I have no reference to a new set of 165/65 Enasaves, and I don't know yet how the 175's will improve with wear, so I really can't comment on the MPG difference.
After agonizing over the available sizes, and the numbers on the tire / wheel size calculator, the 175/65 14's were the only option that made sense to me, running 14" rims.

Is your speedometer accurate with the different size tires?

According to GPS, at 50mph on the speedometer, I am going 51.5 MPH.
Now, this is really splitting hairs. That's with the speedometer needle exactly centered in the 50MPH tick mark.
With the old tires, GPS was showing 49.5

This is the calculator that I was playing with while exploring possible alternative tire sizes.
