    Newbie from Cambridge, Ontario

    Hello,

I just bought myself a brand new Mirage, ES Plus model with a 5 speed manual. I take delivery of this car in 2 days. I can't wait.

Main reason for purchase is the fuel mileage and road manners. My other two vehicles are 20 and 24 years old, quite modified, and expensive for commuting daily, but they're fast.

I don't want to ruin my Mirage fuel mileage, but fabricating a turbo kit is not out of the question once I stop worrying about the warranty.

Hello Pimp_Daddy_Patty and welcome to the forum.

I think you'll like your new Mirage and will appreciate it's economy and practical features. I've been super impressed with how it rewards easy driving with premium fuel economy.

Once you take delivery be sure to make a garage entry and include some photos.

    Congratulations and welcome.

    Thanks guys,

I was up north in Thunder Bay 2 years ago for my brother's wedding. My mom rented a CVT Mirage that week and we drove it in and out of town for a solid 5 or 6 days. When it came time to return the vehicle, we filled it and only paid $9.52. Clearly I thought something wasn't right. After some investigation online, people were certainly getting fuel economy that I've never heard of before. The car was roomy for it's size and I also couldn't believe it was a 3 cylinder....but I like the sound it made. Since then it's one of the few cars I could see myself buying new. It was a big step, as my last 3 vehicles were $400 or less. That being said, the fuel economy along with the $216 monthly payment will add up to less than what I'm spending on my Turbocharged 5.0L V8 truck that I drive daily.

    Welcome!

I think that's the first time I've read that on this forum! I'm assuming you don't mean the handling. (Although the 2017 is noticeably better to drive than the 2014, from my experience.)

Now I'm curious: what are your other cars?

See my sig. Both vehicles are 20+ years old and fairly modified. Stiff ass clutches and race transmissions with no overdrive.

One is a 94 Ranger with a 5.0L V8 swap and a TP38 turbocharger 3.73 gears out back. The other is a Dodge Neon 2.0L turbo charged as well and a custom built 3 speed transmission with RMVB, LSD and a bunch of other goodies. Ran low 14s at 8psi boost and should be back into the 12s now that I've turned the boost up to 16psi. Neither vehicle can take bumps fairly well and both are absolutely brutal in traffic.

You must have found the Mirage's clutch to be hilariously light based on what you're used to! It's the lightest I've ever driven. Not a chore to use in traffic.
