New white spacestar soon to be owner

    Hi all,
My 2017 spacestar coming in Jan'18. All is good except for cabin noise. What are you guys doing about it? Do share.

IIRC, someone on here laid down more insulation in the cabin floorboard - which according to him helped a lot.
    New tires should also help.

I love my mirage/spacestar and hope you will too.

Hello Vegeta and welcome to the forum.

Noise hasn't bothered me. I turned off the automatic A/C control on mine. Otherwise enjoy the great fuel economy of your new car.

Do you have any specific questions?

Welcome to the forum! Yes, the Spacestar can be noisy at highway speeds but I just ignore it.

I guess have to explore insulation if not I just supply eat plugs to my passenger . By the way do young guys have sports mode? Singapore version have a gear for sports mode

    Welcome, Vegeta!

The sports mode on the CVT is the "B" gear on some models in North America, if memory serves. It would hold a higher engine RPM for faster acceleration, but fuel economy will suffer greatly if used a lot.

One U.S. reviewer of the Mirage said he left it in "B" all the time.

Also: What do you mean about the cabin noise?

Gravel & stones hitting the wheel wells/underbody makes a lot of noise. As mentioned, some owners have added "dynamat" type insulation to quiet the cabins.

Was test driving and during acceleration the engine noise was loud. But then again this 1.2l car is not meant for heavy acceleration. Ya so I guess either have to accelerate slowly or install insulation. Do you where which part to install for the insulation for best effectiveness? I mean I don't wan to insulate the whole car given that others tell me that it will add weight n worries that the guy installing will any how recommend place to insulate in order to earn more money for the materials.

A simple decibel meter app on your phone should be able to identify the loud areas. That, or just move your head about the cabin to find the louder areas.
