I'm pretty sure that's the size of a lot of 4-lug wheels from Mini Coopers.

No, I wasn't serious. We're not gonna waste 4k on wheels we don't need! We've been using 185 60 14's for a few years on stock steel wheels now without any problems. 175 would be more ideal but 185's are fine. Keep in mind that you can have 2 tires with the same size from different mfg be slightly different dimensions. Not every tire is the exact size it's supposed to be according to a size calculator. This might be crappy source but the first article I could find quickly- http://www.tirebusiness.com/article/...ent-dimensions

Of course. If not for the fleet, for your own when you get one.

On the other hand, what if the fleet overall saves on tires by using sizes that are potentially cheaper and more easily available?

Those are the best looking wheels I've seen on a mirage (personal preference) even silver on red they look great
When we first bought the mirages we could only get the stock tire size in a dunlop and they were expensive. So we went with the 185-60-14's cause they were much cheaper and easier to get. But I just looked at the site I buy tires from for my personal vehicles and they now carry the 165-65-14 for cheaper than the 185-60's and the 175-65. We might end up going back to the stock size if the our tire supplier for my work has similar pricing. Over the years only one driver has mentioned they noticed a difference in the different tire sizes, and it was just last week. They said the car rode much smoother with the 185's over the stock 165's.
When/if I get a mirage it'll be just a cheap a-b city car that I won't have to fix all the time and I probably wouldn't and couldn't put much extra money or time into it. Cheap on fuel, reliability and low maintenance cost's are why I'd get one.

Fummins, get one. It's an awesome a-b car. It's been pretty darn reliable as well. Nothing much on it to fix.
As for tires, I have the 175 65 14 General Altimax tires on mine right now it does feel a bit more 'grounded' that the 165s. I've had the 205 50 15s on and that really made the mirage feel extremely grounded, haha. But the 176 65 14 snow tires do feel good. Now, I'm waiting on the snow to fall to really see what the mirage can do with snow tires >

I will likely never put 165s on the front of my mirage ever again, the amount of grip they provide with the LRR is not good even when new. The mirage was not designed to be anything more than a penny pinching commuter but when I am taking corners and keeping up with traffic on the 165s I know I am close to their limits, the 175 and 185 both offer enough grip to take a corner fast enough to get body roll that will frighten you into slowing down. When I run 165s on the back I'm secretly wanting oversteer, although it's extremely difficult to achieve and once you do manage to get some the stability control kicks in and "saves the day".

yep, the 175/65/14 is the standard tire this car comes in some other countries. Should be fine!
