When I bought mine, that last thing in the world I would ever have wanted, was a Renault!
There are definitely many serious reasons for Renault's reputation.

Here's a wrinkle in the Renault/Nissan platform theory:
Neither the Clio nor the Micra come in a sedan variant, so they'd have to engineer a stretched platform + new bodywork for that, assuming Mitsubishi is planning to continue offering the G4/Attrage.
Mitsu already has platforms for the hatch/sedan -- wouldn't the next gen car "simply" be an evolution (pardon the pun) of this platform, not a completely new design? And considering that the next gen car is due out approximately in the next 18 months, pre-production versions would be in evaluation/testing many months before that. I have a feeling they were well into the redesign before Nissan came along. Would they abandon that work?
Whatever happens with the platform, I don't like the hint that they may drop the Mirage name. It would suck on several levels (not the least of which is the long term future of the forum) to have a one-generation return of the Mirage and then it goes away again.

Hope its only for the UK. Not impressed with French cars. Cars can still be reliable with really small turbos, but I would prefer a supercharger. With a turbo you can't drive until its fixed. You can still drive on a broken supercharger.

Figured I would pass this along.
Looks like it will share a platform with the Micra.

it's not going to look anything like that photoshop all of the lines and languages is wrong the line passing the Apillar is lost. the front is way too heavy. I think mitsubishi will make two types of mirages one of the developing market using the existing platform and design as costs over refinement are more important in that market. and one for developed markets to help meet emissions standards that would use the V platform to save major development and manufacturing costs.
