Also noteworthy from March in the U.S.:

    • Mirage G4 post its best sales month ever

Mitsubishi's fiscal year 2016 sales closed with over 100,000 sales for the first time since 2007.

In just four years, Mitsubishi's volume growth has increased 75 percent and sales per dealer/per month have almost doubled in that same time period.
The Mirage has contributed a significant amount to the company's turnaround.

And Mirage is still a nose ahead of Spark in U.S. 2017 year-to-date sales. That hasn't happened before -- usually the Spark dominates in the U.S. It's especially interesting considering the Spark is all-new.

    March Canada numbers

221 Mirage deliveries, vs. 451 last March. Not so great, but at least it's moving in the right direction from its worst ever month in January.

    vs. 222 for Spark.

The Nissan Micra numbers bounced back to near normal (875 sales) after 4 months of declines.

I wonder if the Spark's reputation for lack of reliability is a contributing factor in this.

Since Consumer Reports pans the Mirage not many CR members are likely to report their reliability.

    April US sales

    2136 Mirages & G4's sold.

That's down about a third vs. the same month last year, but the $3500 rebate was probably still in play then.

Believe it or not, Mirage sales so far in 2017 are actually slightly outpacing 2016 even without the giant rebate, because the first 2 months of this year were much stronger than last year.

Spark sales of 1700: that's way down ~45% vs. last year, and down ~50% from last month.

Mirage is still in the lead, for now.

I saw the same thing. Made me think the market is saturated.

I'd expect numbers to be up a bit over last year since both the Mirage hatch and Mirage G4 are apparently being counted in these numbers. There are two models now, not just one. Kinda like Nissan does with the Versa Note/Versa sedan.

Wonder what the hatch vs G4 breakdown is?

I'm not "sub-prime", but I don't care what kind of car you're looking at, they're all expensive! I don't want car payments for more than 4yrs. I don't want massive car payments. I also want a well-built, reliable car with a 10y/100k mile warranty. Mitsubishi delivers the goods, which is why I went with the Mirage. When my mom was in the market for a compact SUV, I told her to check out the Outlander Sport. She loved it and bought a new leftover 2015 GT trim. She's value-minded like me, so it was a no-brainer. Comparatively speaking, the prices on Mitsubishis are crazy low with rebates and they're overall good quality vehicles due to not changing the technology in them constantly, like most manufacturers these days. I'm rooting for Mitsubishi and I hope the new Eclipse Cross that's coming out to replace the Outlander Sport doesn't forego quality and reliability for a more modern design.
