Thread: Mitsubishi Mirage monthly sales, US & Canada, 2013-2023 (projected 7000/yr for U.S.)

    U.S. & Canada November

    US:

Great month for the company, not so great for the Mirage:

    • Total November sales of 8,609 are up 24.8 percent compared to last November
    • Calendar year 2017 sales up 7.1 percent with 95,185 units sold

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) reported November 2017 sales of 8,609 up 24.8 percent from November 2016, its best November sales since 2006. Leading the charge was the three-row, seven-passenger Outlander CUV, which reported 3,740 units sold, an increase of 68.5 percent over last November.

Unfortunately, Mirage had its slowest month in nearly 2 years with only 1208 out the door.

If it's not a CUV/SUV these days, it's cold. Maybe people really would prefer a jacked-up Mirage with body cladding! Either that, or time to roll out the rebates again!

Then the Spark goes and disproves that theory by selling a record number last month: 3714

    ---

    Canada:

Another record month for the company overall:

Best November on Record for Mitsubishi Motors

Mississauga, ON, Dec. 1, 2017 – Led by the Mitsubishi Outlander, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada recorded 1,934 sales last month, a 14.8 per cent increase over last year and its best November on record. Mitsubishi Motors’ November sales performance put its total year-to-date deliveries up by 3.8 per cent.

Mirage sales were middling, with 254 sold.

Hmmm... I drive by a local Mitsubishi dealer on a regular basis. They have several Mirages in a corner of their lot...but I always see the same ones there. I was wondering if sales were slowing down or something.

And ironically, I've seen more locally in the last month than ever... in my non-Mitsu-serviced little city.

    Other factoids:

    - As of last month, Mitsu has sold just shy of 85,000 gen 6 Mirages in the US: 84,747 . (So basically by the end of this week they'll be past 85k.)

    - Unless this month's sales are spectacularly bad, the company will juuuuuuust be on track to sell more Mirages this year than last in the US. This will be the 4th year in a row that has seen year-over-year increasing Mirage sales. That is highly unusual (positive) for an aging model in a shrinking segment.

The generous rebates are gone. Simple as that. These cars sold well with a $1500 built-in down payment, but not so much with only $500. I'd expect Mitsu to bump the rebates back up again soon, especially with an all-new 2019 Mirage on the horizon.

    rebates

Looks like there's currently $1500 on the 2017 sedans, but only $750 on the 2017 hatchbacks.

Because the hatchbacks are such a hot commodity.
