    Rostra Aftermarket Cruise Control kit.

Can only seem to find ES models here in NJ and would very much like to have cruise control.

Wondering if anyone has had experience with the Rostra retrofit kit for the Mirage. Any info would be helpful. From what I see the kit is just under $300. I would have a pro install it if I went that way.

This is a link to a pdf of the kit instructions and description.

    Any suggestions/info appreciated.

I've never tried aftermarket cruise, but that kit looks pretty simple to install. Too bad it wasn't completely plug and play.

Didnt have time to read; skimmed the photos though and seemed to be plug and play - unless there's some programming required?

I didn't see any need to program it. You do have to tap into and solder to the ignition wire, speed sensor, and brake light wires. And add an extra clutch switch if you got a standard.
I guess you could just get a steering wheel from a wrecked mirage with cruise and get the dealer to program it for you or do it yourself? Shouldn't matter if the airbag from the donor car was blown. As long as it isn't bent and doesn't have teeth stuck in it.

That would be my preference...but it sounds like if you go this route, you have to do the programming on your own.

This guy installed all the pieces, but his dealer couldn't figure out how to program it?!?

This post is the latest person who installed the factory pieces and got it to work without the dealer.
The ETACS programming sounds like a DIY pain in the butt.

Get the factory parts to do it. ETACS decoder is a pain in the ass but I figured it out after some effort. Fog lights, cruise control, no TPMS all activated

I didn't know anyone had figured out how to turn that off.

Can you modify the TPMS sensor ID's using that software?

For what it's worth, I had a Rostra kit on a 2005 Scion xB back in '05/'06. It didn't work as well as an OEM setup, but it did work.
