I'm off to Princess Auto to get some cheap thermos and plug them into my dash.

I do know without a shadow of a doubt my '14 with climate control could raise the cabin temp much faster than my '17's manual controls

I noticed the same thing - that's why I was thinking I needed to postpone the service until a colder day. But today was cold enough. I started the car at 7:00 am, let it idle for 45 minutes then drove 20 miles. When I got to the dealer I did a temp reading (120 left 60 right) - good enough for them to be able to tell it's not working.

edit: it was -10F this morning

    Thanks Daox.

I think the 17 was heating sufficiently - heat on high with outside air - I would not have a problem with the heat coming out of that dash.

And that is why I won't be adding a heat exchanger for a warm air intake.

Not really, just a lot of speculation haha.

Warm Air Intake - Intercooler as an intake heater

I kind of agree with this - the new 17 I tested did not seem as hot as my 14 with auto used to be - but it's not a scientific comparison.

Update. Mirage has appointment next week for heater core replacement.

Thanks guys for creating and participating in this forum. I would not have thought this part would be covered under warranty if I had not read it here. I've had to take the dash out of an old Subaru before due to mice filling the hvac with dog food. Some old fool stored dog food in my garage. So much cursing putting that dash back in.

I'm glad you're all setup to get this done.

It was 4F out today and I had my heater blasting on the way in. The temp coming out of the vents wasn't very warm!

I really hope the replacement goes well and it fixes the issue completely.
