    Walmart, what can I say???

I bought my winter tires from them. I did a fair bit of research and the consensus is that Walmart winter tires are a good value for the money. Don't expect X-Ice performance and you'll be fine. I ran a set on my '14 and they were awesome. But I'm digressing.....

Walmart wanted me to bring the car back for 100km lug nut check (I did myself but I'm still going to let them do it so they can sign off on it).

While doing the check I did air pressure, natch, trust no one, and of course my tires were severely underinflated.

23, 25, 26, 28. Those were the readings. Explains why poor Shelby could not get past 16.9km/L no matter how hard I tried in my 400km trip. I've bumped the pressure up to 41 PSI, max on the sidewall is 45 so I'm 10% below that.

All that's left now is to visit Walmart for the torque check and to ream them out for the unsafe tire inflation.

Nice find on the tire pressure. That'll definitely help!

Do we really get better mileage on over inflated low rolling resistance tires? I do pretty good in all weather and conditions at 35psi. Should I expect a payoff by bumping up to 40-ish psi?
    Will weld for beer.

Yes, you will see an improvement in fuel economy. Try 45psi and take it easy until you learn how things handle at the higher pressure.

The reward in fuel savings is worth the cost.

Higher pressure will give you a harsher ride (feel more bumps) and worse snow traction, but it increases fuel economy, decreases tire wear, increases wet traction, and increases steering response (autocross drivers run higher pressure when racing). Factory pressure recommendations are setup for a combination of things, but ride quality is probably their higher priority. Try different pressures and see which one suites you best. Some people that have bad backs or something simply can't handle the higher pressure. Me personally, I run mine at 50 psi.

Tested tire has the same tire size and similar LRR properties as the Enasaves.

You can see it's a case of diminishing returns above 40 PSI, but there's a big difference from 30-40.

Yep, they are called Weathermaxx. I put 16-18,000kms on a set last year with no complaints.

I have used "Wal-Mart" tires in the past with no complaints. Aside from them mounting them on someone else's alloy rims which didn't even fit my car. Lol
    Wal-Mart tires.. Ok
    Wal-Mart technicians.. Not so much.
