Another step closer. Its basically ready to be installed. I just have to figure out how I want to connect to the OEM harness. I think I have it figured out, but need to test it yet.
Anyway, here are some pics.

So, last night I took it all apart!
I didn't like the clipping mechanism and decided to update it. That meant unsoldering all the wires and resistors and pulling the switches out, then cleaning up the solder and putting them into a new backing plate and then resoldering the whole shebang. It took a little while, but not horribly long. The new design is much better and clips in nice and securely into the dash. The last version was a bit loose.
I also test fit the connector I'm going to be using on it and it worked beautifully. The two wires from the cruise control switches go to the cruise control wire harness that goes to the clock spring. All you will need to do to install it is unplug the connector from the clock spring, and plug in the connector from the cruise control switches. No cutting, no splicing, no unreliable splice connectors, and no soldering. Just plug it in, and secure it with a zip tie. I love easy installs!
Here is a shot of the wires that go into the clock spring. Its on the underside of the steering column.
Here is a shot from the back side. The center connector is the one we want. It houses all the steering wheel controls except the horn. We just need to tap into the yellow and brown wire. The rest of the wires are for the radio controls and illumination which we won't be using.
So, when we unplug that connector, we simply plug this connector into it. The way the circuit works, you don't even have to worry about which way it is connected. It fits in a little snug, but I think adding a zip tie to it all would be a good practice.
I haven't installed it yet, so I don't have pictures of that. I want to do it when I actually have light to get good pictures... Not exactly sure when that will be.

Yay, I got these in the mail the other day!
This was the last thing I have been waiting for to finish up this modification. The only thing left to do is install all the bits, and setup my etacs decoder software and account to enable cruise control in the ECU.

Just to clarify: your car already has the switches in place doesn't it? Although now that I think of it, maybe not the brake switch.

Yeah, I've been reading on their site and its not super well documented. Still, not bad for a Russian guy who doesn't speak any English (he uses google translate).
No, it does not have the switches in place already. I will have to install both the brake pedal switch and the clutch switch. If you have a CVT you wouldn't need to install the clutch switch, just the brake switch.

That, my friend, is a very good question, and I have absolutely no idea what the answer is. I talked with my boss at work who also does a lot of car work and he has said every car he has ever added cruise to needs those switches installed...
