The "ding" sounds and "*" shows up in top right corner of text box in odometer mode. (not sure if it's on other display modes) If conditions warrant, this happens at startup or at any time while driving. '17 SEL (GT) and it was there also in my '14 SE.

All our cars at work are ES plus'. They have air, tilt,pw,pl,bluetooth controls on the steering wheel, but no cruise... And no snowflake
I'd assume the temp would show up in Celcius for your car.

Come on - this was funny.

At least I thought it was funny.

I'll bet you get loads of valve chatter on startup.

    2017 Mirage ES

I've owned my 2017 Mirage ES since last October, & I have never seen a * symbol on the dash. It's been a somewhat mild winter for Wisconsin, but not that mild!

My Subaru Forester indicates the temperature on the dash. Whenever the temperature drops to 37 degree, it flashes for a brief period of time. It's just a warning of possible freezing conditions.

I just assumed an outside temperature indicator is not part of a Mirage's base package. When a person pays less than $10,000 for a brand new car, I don't expect it to have everything.

The Mirage is sneaky like that.
