This is part of a run up to windowless vehicles, not just cars, aircraft, trains, whatnot. There's no reason with driverless cars coming to have the ability to see out in front of the vehicle and outside inside displays can show the content from the outside cameras.
I'm guessing that aircraft, think drones, are far more aerodynamic by removing the strange profile created by say, a bubble plexi canopy sitting on top of the fuselage jutting out into the 700mph windstream.

I'd rather have mirrors than complex cameras etc. I still use my eyes while backing up along with my mirrors even though my mirage and tundra have back up cameras. I do use the camera to see how close I can get though.
It looks like the mirrorless design could perform better than current mirrors by interpreting the field and adjusting the display appropriately. It would take some getting used to for sure.

I get that these new technologies can make things safer for or around less skilled drivers but if the car does everything for you how do you become skilled?
What happens when you borrow your mom's car and it's old school?
In Ontario now I heard they have taken parallel parking off the road test. Why are we dumbing down life skills to accomodate the mediocre few amongst us and in turn making mediocrity the norm?
Where do we find accomplishment other than how many "friends" we have on Facebook?
Sorry for the rant.. yay mirrorless tech.. bah humbug.
Will weld for beer.

Looks great but they still have some work to do. They can't even make a back up camera that doesn't get covered in dirt within hours. Every vehicle I've driven with a backup camera lately might as well not even have one. The lenses are so covered in dirt you can't see anything.
