Thread: What's going on with Mirage Pilipinas (MPH) forum?

  1. #1

What's going on with Mirage Pilipinas (MPH) forum?

Activity on the Philippines-dedicated Mirage forum was absolutely booming a few years ago: currently 20k+ members and 200k+ posts. (Compared to here: 2k+ members and 60k+ posts.)

But posting seems to have slowed to a trickle since then.

Any members here active on both sites? What happened?

MPH consists of several sub-groups we call "(name of group) CREW" consisting of members in the same locality. Gatherings are conducted for each group as scheduled and agreed upon. There is also a GEB (Grand Eyeball) conducted every month which is alternately hosted by the CREW groups and attended by the crew members as well as non-members seeking OM status at MPH. It is at the EB's where the members discuss & see each others' cars.

Also, MPH has an FB page where members are posting. I have observed that some are active at FB but not at MPH and prefer it that way. For me, I do not like posting at FB because your post is not static. It can be lost in just a few days unlike in the FORUM.

As such, this can partially explain why MPH forum is not that active anymore as it was (IMHO). Let's wait for mitsumi who is more active here than at MPH to share his opinion.

@Mitz hehe... im not active anymore with the MPH site since I forgot my password and tried to recover it several attempts but I didn't receive any confirmation from my email to reset it.

I was thinking that the site is not being managed well anymore. I wanted to have a local forums like Mirageforums but unfortunately its not happening. I don't know the reason why MPH is not attending to those details that can help members and make it once more a source of info for our crews at MPH.

the only thing I hate with FB page is that when you post something useful then almost everyday, weeks or months passed the same question will be asked again and you'll have to repeat again and again and again. Tiring and Annoying

That's why I refer them to this site for more infos about mirage instead of the MPH site. Mirageforums is well managed and has tons of info with the mirage! and I LOVE IT!

Thanks for the replies & explanations.

That's too bad about FB. A web forum is a better platform for a car community for many reasons, except for one big one: FB is already so integrated into many people's lives, it's just easier for them to stay on it for car talk rather than going to a dedicated outside web site. (Glad to hear you're pointing people here for useful info though. Thanks.)

I'm also glad to find out it isn't because interest in the Mirage had declined in PH. You guys have the most love for the car out of any country.

@MetroMPG - yes, mirage is like hotcake here in the PHLs. maybe because of its FC since its too traffic and saving money is the goal. Since the price of gas now is high, more than 1$ per liter or 50pesos up because of the TAX reform or so called TRAIN law that was recently implemented here.

I have been visiting web forums for various interests for close to 20 years, well before FB, so I will continue to do so.
Oh, and I don't have a FB so that makes it easy to continue using forums haha.
I'm still active on a couple where my join date is 2005. The oldest ones I no longer visit or they are gone.

One thing about the MPH site (and the MirageForum actually) - they don't have mobile friendly versions. Most folks here access the Interwebs on their phones; I hate Facebook but both MPH and MirageForum are completely unusable on a mobile browser.
