$16850... wish I would've waited a month for the incentives

Sounds like Mitsubishi isn't yet discounting the 2017 as deeply as they were the 2014 and 2015. They were giving huge discounts on those. Maybe in time. My advice is to wait if you can. If you need a new car NOW, just do your best to haggle lower than the currently discounted price. They CAN do better. It's a matter of are they willing to. I went with my mom to help her negotiate on a new 2015 Outlander Sport. The closest dealership to me was awful. They wanted MSRP for a demo model with 7k miles on it. They'd only knock $1500 off the price after an hour of haggling. We left angry and frustrated. The next day my mom called a different local Mitsubishi dealership. After 30mins on the phone with a salesman, she got the exact same vehicle, right down to the color, for $4000 off MSRP. Brand new, not a demo. So it pays to shop around. Do not hesitate to walk out the door if their "best price" stinks.
My daughter and I told the local dealer to have a nice day, and walked out too. They didn't really want to deal on a 2016 Outlander SEL, that she wanted. I called a dealer about 50 miles south, and worked out a great deal over the phone. Picked it up the next day. I would have loved to been a "fly on the wall" when the sales guy from the first dealership opened his email. My daughter sent them a picture of her sitting behind the wheel of her new ride, waving, and smiling. She was polite, and thanked them for "trying" to help her with a purchase. Told them she got a great deal elsewhere. Justice served. LOL
Yeah, incentives aren't as good now as they have been in the past, but at $1500 their incentives are on par or better than most other manufacturers. I doubt they will offer another $3500 rebate any time soon, at least until the next major revision of the car.
I paid about $15,900.00 before tax, title and tags. I got my Mirage ES CVT in July 2015 while they had a $1,250.00 factory rebate. I wanted a small car that was great on gas yet was loaded with all the features I could get. Mine has the Chrome Package $230.00, Navigation - Back Up Camera Package $900.00, Front & Rear Park Assist Sensor Package $450.00, Exterior Appearance Package $695.00, Color Keyed Bodyside Moldings $155.00, Cargo Package $95.00, Mitsubishi Cargo Organizer Tote $59.99, Mitsubishi All-Weather Mats $125.00, Mitsubishi All-Weather Cargo Tray $75.00, Mitsubishi Window Vent Shades $149.99, Mitubishi Door Sill Scuff Plates $80.00, Mitsubishi CVT Gear Shift Knob, Chrome Headlight Eye-Brow Garnish $96.00, Chrome Tail Light Garnish $104.00, Mitsubishi OEM LED Dome Light Bulb $49.99, Ordered the Mitsubishi OEM Center Console Arm Rest for $149.99 and installed that. I think that about covers it and most people would say I am insane for getting a Mirage with all these features but it was exactly what I wanted and was able to find this one with most all of the features already on it and had the dealer order/install the rest the day I purchased it. In the end after everything I paid like $17,900.00 out the door and it was worth every penny to me and the back up camera and front and rear parking sensors are amazing in tight parking lots and parallel parking (which I do everyday). I have had my Mirage over a year now and absolutely love it and am so happy with the decision ai made and get many compliments on it about the way it looks compared to most Mirages.
