Which is a strange unit. It should be km/L or L/km.
Even in the US, some enlightened folks are advocating for using gallons per 100 miles, and there's a good reason:
Why We Should Measure by Gallons per Mile, Not Miles per Gallon

Where does the '100' come from? And why is it pushed? Who benefits?
It simply makes the resulting number easier to communicate, rather than dealing with decimal values well below 1.

    EG: what's easier to communicate, 4.4 L/100 km or 0.044 L/km ?

Well, if you insist on expressing it 'the wrong way', a factor of 1000 should be used, as that is the default factor in the metric system. So that should be 440L/1000km, or 440L/Mm. (Which also solves the problem that L/100km is normally expressed in 2 digits, while km/L is expressed in 3.)

A big problem with L/100km is that it doesn't scale up. In economy contests there are 'cars' which do 1000km/L. That is the same as 0.1L/100km. But someone who does it just a bit better, and squeezes 1050 km from a liter, still runs 0.1L/100km.

BTW, I read that article, where was stated that fuel consumption should be measured in g/100m. And I read grams per 100 meters first.

I was down to two winter cars since I’m trying to preserve my truck as I’m not ready to cough up the cash yet for a new vehicle.
