I noticed the same thing when quoting a few different vehicles. The Mirage was a little more costly, but not as bad as what you're saying. When I traded my Versa for the Mirage, my premium went up a bit.

I'm pretty sure any car that's in the same class would have sustained the same amount of damage deeming it a total loss. The high insurance cost's have been discussed in threads before. The ridiculous price of new parts from the dealership and the fact that there aren't many parts available aftermarket parts available make the Mirage expensive for insurance company's or anyone for that matter to repair. Unless you buy used parts.
It sucks cause many Mirages appear to be relatively easy fixes, not requiring any frame pulls, just replacement of bolt on parts.

Went to pick up my check and get my belongings out of the car today at the body shop. I was very disheartened to see the state of the car. Name: 0316181401.jpg

    Poor Kermit. It's not fair.

You can't even part it out, can you? Such as the alloy wheels. Looks like you installed the fender-mounted side marker lamps.

    I'd be bummed too.

Here's hoping things are looking up and you can put this behind you.

Progressive cut me that nice check and the title was signed over. They told me it'd be going to auction.

Kermit was a 2014, so it came with the fender mounted marker lamps.

I need to move on with my life now. House hunting and finishing renovations on my house before I put it on the market. Things are a bit nuts.

I assume we won't be seeing you around much more (too bad).

Sorry to see you & Kermit go. But good luck with everything!

That difference almost pushed me to bite for the Spark, but at last minute I decided to just keep what I have for now.
Wow thats crazy. Cant believe the difference in insurance price is so drastic between the 2 vehicles.

Right now I am paying 55 per month for barebones coverage with the green lizard. And I have never been in a car accident in my entire life or ever filed a claim

Yep, I was shocked too. The Spark was $501 per 6 months and the Mirage was somewhere around $743. The Spark was almost exactly the same to insure as my 2013 Fiat 500 turbo and less then my 2016 Fiat 500X mini SUV. It does fare way better in the insurance institutes crash tests which probably has something to do with it.

Ditto! Sorry to see you go, especially like this. Really glad to hear Kermit did its job and protected you and you're okay though.
