You are right, we don't have such a warranty. It's here 'only' 5yr/100000km. But wouldn't it be unethical to change maintenance instructions as a function of the warranty time? And what about the reputation? A car which can't stand for 10 years when the recommended maintenance is applied is not a good publicity.

I follow the dash. It demanded an oil change at 4000km, so I did it, then the service interval said I have 3000km or so to my next change, so I did it, now I don't need to change the oil until 26,000kms. WTFI'm still going to change it at about 10000km.

I think what's equally important with the duration between oil changes is keeping the level up to spec. With 3 l of oil that's not a lot of oil escaping before we have serious problems. My '14 used almost a liter from 1000-7000KMS, I changed it at 1000 then who knows.

Mitsubishi may not be giving us Yanks this long warranty for free. How much does a base model Mirage cost in Europe?

In the Netherlands at the moment €10610, but that is without €780 'additional costs'. So the real price is €11390. That is a basic 1.0L manual, without airco, and even without back spoiler.

I do every ~3000 miles. It takes 10 min and costs less than $20. Cheap insurance.
