    Fuse type in Mirage

    Hi guys,
I want to tap into the fuse box in order to install a dash cam.
Hope you can answer my few questions:
    1. What fuse type adapter to I need? Mini/Standard/Micro?
    2. Which fuse should I put the adapter in? Cigarette lighter is the best one?
    3. What fuse should I buy for the camera? 5A is good enough?

    Thanks!
    Niro.

I want to buy something like that:

Hello Niro123 and welcome to the forum.

I suppose it depends on whether you want your camera powered only when the vehicle is running or if you want it powered all the time. There's always the option of tapping in to the 12v accessory circuit, the good-old cigarette lighter socket. Also, the Owner's Manual refers to two unused fuse circuits. Though I haven't tried using mine yet, that's something to consider.

It might be helpful if you would tell us more about yourself and your car. Consider making a Garage entry here on the forum.

Thanks a lot for the answer!
I updated my car garage as you suggested.
Do you know if the fuse type is mini or standard in the front fuse box?

I believe it is the 'micro' type.

I used the rear wiper fuse position, and installed an Add-A-Circuit adapter. To that circuit I simply added an aftermarket cigarette lighter socket, tucked it under the dash, and plugged the camera into the socket.

The fuse should be chosen to protect the power supply wiring. The power supply wiring needs to be sized according to the device's maximum current draw.

These cams usually draw very little current. But, as was mentioned, you will need to decide if you want the camera on all the time or just when the ignition is on. My camera...a Lukas LK-7900...will switch into parking standby mode after a few minutes with the vehicle not moving. But I have it wired to 12v switched at the rear wiper fuse.

The camera has been almost flawless in the nearly five years I have used it.

The radio or front wiper position would work just fine if you want switched power.

I have the same question. I want to add an always on cigarette socket for my wifi device. Can I use a mini tap-a-fuse?

Which fuse can I tap into that is always on (is the rear wiper fuse always hot?)? How and where do I connect the ground wire from the socket?
