Rear axle + Dealership selling me alignment for the rear...????

I recently had my rear axle assembly replaced under warranty like many other owners. Front alignment is in spec because dealer did a free check and said ok. (I know this because I have access to a hunter alignment machine and I do my own alignements). Rear was deemed defective because it is out of alignment.

Now here’s my issues: they are replacing my axle which is good however repeatedly are trying to charge me for an alignment in the rear. How can you charge for an alignment on a rear end of a car which no adjustments can be made,? Just baffles my mind. And if installing my new axle, why not just do another check to make sure it’s not another defective piece,?

Maybe the dealer is just mad at me because I’m claiming all this warranty stuff which equals to probably $2000 Canadian dollars, lol.

Something sounds fishy here, as this should be covered under warranty. Have you read these threads?

Rear Wheel Misaligned? (UPDATE: some rear axles out of spec; warranty replacement)
Long thread with hundreds of posts, but the first post has been updated with concise information about getting repairs under warranty.

    Rear Alignment Problem FAQ
Good detailed overview of the problem.

You sound like a competent mechanic - better than myself at least. If you have access to an alignment machine that's a big head start over the majority of forum members here. You may have to reach out to Mitsubishi's corporate office for help. The rear axle was replaced on my Mirage under warranty at no cost. Perhaps your dealership doesn't think this will be covered by Mitsubishi, or possibly they never bothered to open a warranty claim and did the work without trying.

Also, it would be helpful if you would make a Garage entry here on the forum so we know what year and trim level Mirage you have. It's easy, and you can use your Garage entry to keep track of work done on your Mirage, as well as show it off with some pictures.

I'm lost. They already replaced or they are going to be replacing it? A second time?

Either way, why would they charge you for a made up service that doesn't exist, wonder if they recommend replacing the timing belt too? Even if the solid trailing axle did have adjustment(which we both know it doesn't) I would assume warranty would take care of that. I'd be irritated.
