    Stolen Mirage found. Finally

The 17' we had stolen 1 1/2 years ago is up for auction right now. It looks like the thieves didn't damage it(visually), put a few stickers on it but were too stupid to scrap of the unit number off the back window. It was found 150kms away in another city. I don't know when exactly it was recovered but it went mia December 2016. https://www.impactauto.ca/Vehicles/V...=1521839284388

Unfortunately we weren't given the option to buy it back, probably cause the car was gone for so long they paid us out for it long ago.

How was it stolen? I would think the immobilizer would stop theft.

Did you turn in the keys when your insurance company paid you for it? Auction says keys come with it, which is weird for a theft recovery.

I feel like most car thieves are farmers looking for a reliable car with good gas mileage to go to shops.

The keys in it were in it. Everyone used to leave the keys in the vehicles during the day as there’s never been problems until that one time. And it happened to be a brand new car that didn’t have the gps installed yet. Now nothing is put into service til it’s got a tracker.

We might go bid on it. The salvage auctions that are open to the public that I’ve gone to in the past are usually full of new Canadians with more money than brains. I think you need to be a licensed dealer to bid online at this place. It might be a bit of a drive for metrompg to bid.

All our mirages are ordered exactly the same. The only differences are the shade of white. Originally the 15’s came inz plain white, then some of our later production 15’s and all 17’s came in only the pearl white.

I know this is a very old thread, but do you have any idea why the backseat of the vehicle is missing? Is it possible someone was looking to see if the vehicle was equipped with gps tracking? also im not sure if this is something you'd like to share but if i wanted to install my own gps tracker what are my options for having access to constant power? i feel like a fuse tap would be too easy for someone to find.

Sorry Fummy, that was me. I took that Mirage out for a joy ride in the Great White North. I slammed a case of LaBatt's, rawdawged thru a Tim Horton's drive thru, got into 2 fights at a hockey game, and kicked a bull moose's ass with my bare hands. Love Canada! Sorry about the weed smell in the recovered Mirage.
