i have to disagree on that.

the yaris hybrid is OTD ( so with dealer discounts )only 2500 euro more then the space star and then i compare the high end models of both.
and the yaris is bigger and hybrid and more comfortable
but it got higher cost to replace the bigger wheels or more oil and so more cost on the long run.
also higher road tax to pay
and if you drive for lets say 15 years then you need to add the battery replacement to that cost
not to forget if anything needs to be fixed it will cost more because you have more expensif parts ( hyrbid and bigger car )

but the differents is indeed not that big.. ( well over here )

still prever the space start above the yaris hyrbid because off above but i expected a bigger price diff.

The power and fuel economy of the Yaris Hybrid are absolutely not impressive to overpay extra 2500 Euro over the Space Star.

For everyone information to be clear
    - Yaris Hybrid (80.7 MPG UK- combined) - 72HP (100HP combined with electric motor)
    - Space Star 1.2 CVT (68.9 MPG UK- combined) - 79HP

The top spec of Space Star in NL is for 14.990 Euro.
The low spec Yaris Hybrid is for 16.715 Euro

it was OTD price not list price
they have a 1500 national extra trade in discount and then the dealer give some discount to .. to where the point there was only 2500 more then the space star.
    the yaris ON paper
    average 4 l/100km (1 op 29)
    city 3 l/100km (1 op 32)
    highway 4 l/100km (1 op 29)

    € 19.030,- minus 1000 dealer and 1500 extra tradein
    16490 OTD

    the space start cvt
    4 l/100km (1 op 24)
    5 l/100km (1 op 22)
    4 l/100km (1 op 26)

€ 13.990,- no OTD price because there is a 50/5- deal where you pay 50% now and over 1 year 50%
and so no discounts beside that.

If there is no trade in, then the difference is 4000 Euro?

if there is no trade in then would not get the 1500 more. so 1500 less ;-)

normally you get more discount when you dont trade in but because sales are so bad they try to get people out of the current car and into a new one.

because of warranty they also need to visit the dealer for the next X years.
instead of visiting a cheaper local garage.

poeple are looking for ways to save money and sales but also repairs at brand dealers is bad.

the 1500 is 50% paid by the national toyota dealer/car import.

it are al stimulants to prevent dealers and ofcourse the toyota import to get into financial trouble.
and i geuss they are already running in reserves

or lets say financiel smart accountings :P

Guys: hope you don't mind I split the discussion of Mirage vs. Yaris Hybrid into its own thread. People will be searching for this kind of comparison info, so it helps to raise its profile in a dedicated thread.
