    Looking, have questions.

    Hello members,

I'm looking at purchasing a Mirage. It's hard to believe but this vehicle excites me. I have a myriad of vehicles at the moment. My future purchase of a Mirage will replace my 2004 Toyota Corolla.

    Here are my questions:

    • Does the SE for 2018 no longer have a manual transmission option?
Has anyone retro-fitted cruise control onto an ES model?

I ask these 2 questions because, I'm fine with an ES model. The only 2 things that are a must for me is 1. A manual transmission, and 2) Cruise Control.

An SE fits the bill, if there is still a manual transmission model.

    Thanks!

    Jason Oliver

    Welcome!
I do believe you can only get a 5 speed in a base model for 18'. I could be wrong though.
And yes you can install cruise in an ES. Look up Daox's threads he sells a kit.http://mirageforum.com/forum/showthr...amp-price-list

Correct. For some unknown reason, Mitsubishi assumes that people who want more options don't want to row their own gears?!?

Just so you don't get confused...

In 2014/2015, the SE was the base model and the ES the upscale model. For 2017/2018, it's reversed...

Yes. There's an aftermarket option (Rostra) available.

Like Fummins said...we also have a forum member has engineered a slick alternative that uses the factory cruise control logic. Definitely check that out.

Sadly, the manual option was dropped for the SE trim level in 2018. My purchasing dealership will add cruise to an ES model for $599. Cheaper options have already been shared. The ES trim level in manual is a great value. Love mine!

Interesting... That's the first time I've seen someone quote a price for a dealer installation. Does that get you a new steering wheel...or can they add the controls to an ES steering wheel?

I would expect for that price a simple aftermarket cruise kit including controls piggy backed on wiper/washer control arm.
    Will weld for beer.

Yeah, well, we don't have to be worried about that for another 90 years.

In '14 and '15 the DE was the base model, and the ES was the upscale model. For '17, the Mirage range was split into three trims. The DE went away, the ES became the base model, the GT became the upscale model, and the SE was in between.

It's rather confusing! But the manual SE was a one-year offering...2017. All Mirages are wired for factory cruise control. All that is necessary are the component parts and activating the cruise control function in the car's ETACS system.
