    Roof popping noise

I've noticed that every time I take my 2014 model through the car wash, the roof snaps, pops, dents in and comes back and generally doesn't like what it's being subjected too. It happens at the end of the wash, where there are 4 turbo blowers that blow off the water. They are crazy powerful and actually flex/ press down the roof, then it pops right back.
    Anybody else seeing this?

Yes, happens every time for me but never shows any damage.

I have no such problem with my car wash place.

We should have a car wash video thread.

Not surprising. But it's hand-wash only for mine!

I went through the wash yesterday and videoed the whole thing. NOT THE FIRST POP. I couldn't believe it. Every time for the last year, it would POP. Go figure.

That's hilarious. Just when you want to gather proof, the problem goes away.

It's a design "feature" (light weight metal, easily stamped for manufacturing). Or a flaw, if it makes the panel act like a timpani drum!

Look at what Nissan did to the roof of the Micra:

That'll be slightly more difficult to manufacture, increasing cost somehwhat.

I've intentionally smacked the roof of a Micra. It's much less resonant than the Mirage's. That design embossed in the panel has gotta be one reason why.

It's already a stamped panel. That design probably adds zero cost, it's just a different set of dies. Pretty cool idea.
    Simplify and add lightness.

But the design cost!! How many people argued over whether it looked cool or not. Did the lawyers have to sign off on copyright infringement of the WIFI logo?

I just noticed a stamped pattern in the roof of an older F-150 today. More truckish blocky things, not cute WIFI symbols.
