As nice as the Yaris one and below 36 bucks?

Time will always be an issue!

Spoken like a true young engineer, consider the time it will take you - yes it will be a sweet creation of your own doing... but will it be considerably better than $40 and none of your time?
Just a slightly seasoned outlook from an (older?) engineer. No offense intended.

I would rather buy the Yaris console and then engineer the perfect mounting system for it. Eliminate the wobblies.

Got the "yaris" one OTW, and I have been thinking about the mounting 'issues.' my plan thus far: het a koozie for snug fit & screw the bugger down; here's why:
    1. Most solid mount.
    2. Almost no likelihood of component removal (why would you take the armrest out once installed??)
2.01 I plan to have the car for so long (at a minimum) that the wear and tear of my use, over years, will far exceed any little 'screw holes' in the bottom of a cup holder.
    3. In terms of annoyance: Screw holes in the bottom of a cup holder << continuously moving/wobbling arm-rest

Mine is screwed down. The problem is the factory base... It's rather wobbly, I think attached by only a single screw. One of these days I'll open up that sucker to see what can be done to correct that.

Oh... I see. I guess I will have that puzzle to solve too.
