I had to run my stock tires at 42PSI to get any barely reasonable performance out of them. I run my 185/55 R15's (that are on the DE now) between 36 and 38 PSI. 36 they don't hop bumps as much, but wash in hard cornering. 38 and they have some bounce to them, but are extremely solid in the corners.

Where do you guys find 4-bolt patterned rims?
I found ICW Racing and many other brands with free shipping with a 5 second google search. They were priced around $100 each. I went with 15"x6.5". Tires 185/55. No rub with load or heavy maneuvers. Check my garage for pics.

it would be somewhere btw 32 and 51psi. I adjust by the feel and it is car/tire dependent. For example RT43 in 185/60R14 on stock rims best with 48/42psi F/R, stock Enasaves were good at 42/38. In FWD I usually start with 42/38 and then adjust up/down to get the best grip/comfort.

Like I said above higher pressure is better in the turns, but lower is smoother and more comfortable. When you buy larger tires than stock the number on the sticker actually ends up being too high, but that number is generally set low for ride comfort by the manufacturer. For instance my tires have such a larger tire patch than stock and that I should be using them around 33PSI according to both Mitsubishi and Toyo (I emailed them).

I don't like how soft they are below 36 PSI though (my car says 35PSI). When I'm doing tight manuvers I pump them up a few PSI. If I was taking a trip with lots of highway I would probably drop them down to 35PSI. For every 10 degrees your tire warms up the tire pressure goes up 1psi. They will get tighter as you ride anyway. Most people just take what the sticker says in the door and adds 2-4 PSI.

With a FWD car, making the Front wheels 2-4psi higher than the backs helps with the car's turn in and balance. The back wheels are dragging and you want them to roll less than the fronts as it keeps the vehicle strait and fishtail free.

Just going from your tires at 35psi when its 50 degrees out and driving to a climate that is 100 degrees will make your tires pressure rise from 35 to 40PSI!. That would be 40psi cold (in the 100 degree climate). Also. If its 100 degrees out and you drive to a colder climate say 50 degrees, your 35PSI is now 30PSI. This is why you should check the tires often or seasonally at least. You also lose 1-2 PSI a month is normal for a tire.

Mitsumi, stateside auto repair shops, tire shops, dealers service centers, etcetera, will all tell us we need to abide by the manufacturers recommendations for tire pressure. For legal reasons, such as what (or who) contributes to an accident, they will always tell us to use the pressures on the door sticker. Many drivers here see improved fuel economy by inflating the tire to the maximum pressure listed on the tire sidewall. This reduces the tire's rolling resistance. Some even exceed the tire's maximum listed pressure, and that is their decision.

    Hope this helps.

Just to add to comments above OEM rims are very narrow, so with wider tire there was too much squirming at 42/38psi. Higher pressure has fixed it. 48/42 F/R works well grip-wise but it may be too stiff for bad pavement.

For fuel economy higher is better, but at some point increase will not result in additional efficiency.

Usually exceeding manufacturer recommendation by 10-20% results in better grip/MPG.

Tires have different construction and react differently to change in pressure..

In warmer conditions lower pressure can result in overheat and failure.

There is a good reason why tires have max pressure posted, and exceeding it may result in failure.
