A lot of personal opinion. But as a person, as a driver, as a mechanic, and as a cheap *******, I really dislike the Prius. That is however, just my opinion.

If it was me, I'd stick with the Civic and maybe if you get bored test drive a Mirage to see if you like it.

I did like the Mirage, but I always get nervous when the salesman is in the car with me so I didn't get to "drive" it if you catch my drift. I just don't think downgrading is the best option. I'm going to test drive a Prius C and if I can make a trade happen where I don't end up paying more per month I may end up getting the Prius C for now. :P

Personally, I'd stick with Civic and tried to change SUV for a used Yaris (5-6 years). The used Yaris is not going to lose its resale value compare to a new car. And you do not need to buy the premium insurance coverage for 2 cars.

I saw a 2003 Echo, but it is a 2door and I really prefer 4door. I'll keep my eyes open - that is actually a good idea. Our friend has an 03 Echo with 120k miles and it has a lot of pep and still gets 30mpg.

[/QI've been thinking about the new Mazda3, which gets great efficiency through a high-compression direct injection engine. While I don't have the mechanical knowledge to know - I am a little skeptical of this new technology at this time because I am unsure of it's long-term reliability (sort of like turbos, which give more power, but not for "free").

Mazda is selling really well over here. I wonder what we are going to see down the line as the skyactiv engines get some more miles on them... Still surprised they even produced the Mazda2 if their skyactiv engine gets better MPG and is a much bigger better car...
