cigarette lighter plug relay or not? always on or switched off

is the lighter plug always on or is there a relay that switches the plug off?

i like to connect stuff to it when in winter like a heater but if its not always ON that ( and i dont want to rewite anything ) will not work.

It is shut off when the ignition is turned off. And it is only rated at 120W.

So don't put a heater on it or you are likely to blow a fuse!

Has anyone figured out how to keep the cigarette lighter powered on?

I'm tempted to wire 12v directly to the thing.
